Doing an apprenticeship with an experienced consultant will show you there is more to learning how to plan a wedding than reading a binder or taking a class! It also takes field experience and long days on your sore feet! Your Dream Day has started an apprenticeship program to help those persons interested in turning a passion for wedding planning into a career! Our "Apprenticeship Program," designed by Kathy Piech-Lukas in 2007, is a ten step program designed to give you all the tools that you'll need to become a professional wedding, consultant. It incorporates some of the novice requirements from the Association of Bridal Consultants with a few things that the dreamgirls have found to be helpful tools in the field. As an apprentice, you will be expected to: Step 1: Join the Association of Bridal Consultants as a novice level member ($145 investment) Step 2: Attend a wedding flower arranging class at The Flowerman ($40 investment) Step 3. Attend regional conference for the Association of Bridal Consultants ($300 investment) Step 4: Attend a chair cover installation and linen seminar. Step 5: Shadow a vendor trip with a Your Dream Day consultant and client. Step 6: Take the 'Professional Bridal Consultant' course offered by ABC ($399 investment). Step 7: Enter vendor information into our database and do office hours for up to 5 hours per week during the six month apprenticeship in the Cincinnati or Dayton office. Step 8: Coordinate a networking event for the local Association of Bridal Consultants affiliate. Step 9: Write an article for the Ohio ABC Newsletter. Step 10: Assist at Wedding 101, taught by members of the Association of Bridal Consultants. Your final exam will consist of two consultants from Your Dream Day assisting YOU at a real client wedding that you'll plan. When you complete Your Dream Day's apprentice program, you will have earned at least half of the 15 points required for your consultant level membership.* You will be required to complete a W-9 form and show proof of your ABC novice membership upon acceptance into the program. Apprentices are not employees of Your Dream Day and, as an independent contractor, apprentices will be responsible for their own medical insurance. Each apprentice understands that Your Dream Day LLC will not assume responsibility for injuries accrued on the job, nor will the apprentice hold Your Dream Day LLC for any injury or medical bills. At the completion of the program, you may have the option to join Your Dream Day as a contracted member once you are a consultant level member of ABC, of the Your Dream Day team, or to open your own wedding planning business. Under all circumstances, all Your Dream Day company information will remain sensitive and you will not be allowed to take our database, contracts, package descriptions, advertising or other literature with you when you leave. Doing so will result in legal action. Your Dream Day reserves the right to dismiss any apprentice from the program at any time. A limited number of apprentices are accepted each year. Please complete the attached form to be considered for the apprenticeship program. Please note: We only offer the opportunity for novice level members of the Association of Bridal Consultants who have completed the Professional Bridal Consultant / Professional Development Program course offered by ABC. No relocation cost or lodging fees will be covered for out of town applicants. *Based on ABC's new point system, which may be subject to change. |
